Today I've learnt how beautiful it is to cycle with tailwind. And what a wonderful morning it was, with a temperature of 13 degrees, which let me cycle for the first time without wind jacket. I realised immediately that my pace was much faster, at around 21 km/h.
I chose to stick with route 926, the so-called Itäpuolentie, as it goes along the Kemijoki river on the east side. The last part of it has been quite hilly, which made me slow down considerably. But I'm not in a hurry, am I? However, thanks to a downhill I managed to get a maximum speed of 52 km/h, due to the weight of my bags rather than the power of my muscles. Which, by the way, don't hurt anymore, jeees!
Apart from the wonderful sky you can see in the picture, I manage to see also some reindeer on the road and, as I was about to switch on the camera, I had the great idea to say to them "terve!!!", just to let them run away before shooting a single picture. Ingenious.
It was also ingenious to have lunch below four pillars of high tension listening to their buzzing. Maybe I got the weird idea I might get more power by standing there, who knows.
Even this time I manage to get a mattress to sleep, for which I have to thank Niina. This might be my last time to sleep indoor before Sodankylä, as I don't really think I can find some good soul between Rovaniemi and there, or can I?
