Yesterday, arriving in Karigasniemi, I dropped by the border to ask the Border Guards if they know something about the road to Angeli:
One of the reasons why yesterday I wanted to cycle longer was to have a shorter day today. I’ve been cycling for 8 days in a row and sometimes it’s nice to have some rest. Or at least shorter legs.
Today it was a wonderful day. And not only because the weather has been perfect (warm and sunny in the morning, a bit cloudy and mild in the evening), not only because for the first time during this journey I broke the barrier of 100 km in a day (yes!), but because I found the most beautiful and rewarding route of the whole trip.
Today I’ll start with a picture: this was the weather in the morning. I woke up first time at 7 and noticed it just started again to rain. Rain itself is something you take into account when you do this kind of journeys. But one thing you don’t want is waking up, in your tent, and outside it rains. Because that means you have to pack a wet tent. And you know it won’t dry.
(no net folks, you’ll get this updates with some delay) Today I’ll start from the end, as I had to stop cycling earlier than planned. As I’m writing, a terrible rainstorm with lightening and thunders is going on out of my tent. Which I had to built in record time not to get soaking wet. […]
Yesterday evening, maybe so happy by the scenery surrounding my camp site (just above the fjord), I made a miscalculation about where the sun is going to shine from in the morning. Conclusion: I woke up at seven in a bit of a sweat. Nights here in the north are quite chilly even if there […]
One of the many good thing about long-distance cycling is that when you go to sleep, you sleep. No matter where you are, even in a tent, you just fall asleep and wake up in the morning. This is something I noticed since the beginning. One of the reasons (maybe the main one) of sleeping […]
When you plan something, for example a journey, it’s important to have a plan B, in case something goes wrong, or just to feel on the safe side. Well, that’s something I do myself too, with only one difference: I don’t prioritize. That’s the reason why yesterday I didn’t really know where to go next. […]
So, where were we? It’s been some time, hasn’t it? To be precise, something like three years. For those of you who don’t understand what I am talking about, it must be said that during the summer 2010 I used to have an alter ego who liked to write a daily blog of my entire […]
This year I decided to be a little bit lazier: during the five weeks I’ve spent around Italy I managed to cycle properly just for a few days. But the plan for the next year is big, even bigger! Also this time I manage anyway to see really wonderful places, surrounded by both fresh and […]
